Fish NG for Grouper - Dec. 2003 North Carolina Sportsman.
“There should be some fish here,” Capt. Anthony Ng said. “We had a pretty good mark and got anchored right on top of it.” Then grabbing a stout stand-up rod with a Penn 6/0 Senator and an electric motor attached, he smiled as he passed it to me and said: “Let’s get baited up and see if they’re hungry.”
Ng, his brother, Alex Ng, and I were somewhere a little south and inshore of the Big Rock in about 100 feet of the prettiest blue water imaginable. There had been a few feet of a leftover swell when we left Atlantic Beach several hours earlier in the pre-dawn light, but the ocean had been calming for the entire trip and was now almost like a lake.
The sun had risen during our trip, portending the makings of a great day on the water. All
